Carmen “Tita” Santo Corrada, ACURIL President 2009-2010, passed away.
She was an ACURIL advocate and supporter of librarianship in the Caribbean. In 2010, after the earthquake that created such destruction in Haiti, she initiated with Luisa Vigo-Cepeda, Executive Secretary and Almaluces Figueroa Ortiz, ACURIL’s treasurer, a commemoration day within the conference, for the next five years. Since she was president of the XL conference, she paid tribute to all past conferences by collecting the Presidents names, conference title, date and location. This retrospective is still updated and helped shape the ACURIL 50th anniversary platform.
Tita had a lovely spirit and exquisite manners. I recall fondly our discussions about Caribbean cuisine, access to health information, and the changing landscape of libraries.
ACURIL extends its sympathies to her family, colleagues and friends in this time of bereavement.

As President of ACURIL, I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Carmen, affectionately known as Tita.
Although I had the privilege of knowing her only briefly, I recognize the lasting impact she made on ACURIL and our broader community through her service as President and her longstanding dedication.

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Carmen Santos Corrada, affectionately known as Tita. Tita served as President of ACURIL from 2009–2010 and was a dedicated and committed member of our organization. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and warmth left a lasting and beautiful mark on our community. We will always remember her with great affection and gratitude.
